What Is Venetian Plaster?

Venetian plaster (also known as Stucco, Veneziano Stucco, marble plaster, Italian plaster or polished plaster), originates from the Italian city of Venice.

It has been used there for many centuries, presenting a decadent and customisable wall finish.

Due to it’s hand-applied and finished nature, there are many ways you can use this coating.

Today it’s mainly used to cover walls or ceilings within the interior of a building.

Venetian plastering can be used for traditional yet contemporary designs, timeless styling or something quite minimalist and subtle.

There really is that much variance!

Made from slaked lime putty & marble dust, along with colour pigments, Venetian plastering is a low to zero VOC choice to use, which is better for your health and the environment.

You can use Venetian plaster to achieve a highly polished, glossy finish to walls & ceilings or opt for a more coarsely textured, matte or low-shine design.

The stunning marble effect many have come to love is created using this range of products, including any veining or formation lines.

We’re passionate about our products and it shows in the work we produce, get in touch to learn more about which options best suit your surfaces.

Where Can You Use Venetian Plastering?

You can use Venetian plastering on surfaces within your home and there are plenty of options available.

This means you could have one of our decorative plasters or surface coatings on:

  • Ceiling
  • Feature wall
  • Accent panels
  • Window or door reveals
  • Kitchen splashback
  • Worktop
  • Shower enclosure
  • Floors
  • Media units

It’s worth noting that Venetian plaster is not suitable for wet areas, floors or worktops. We’d use a Microcement for areas such as this.

How Much Does Venetian Plaster Cost?

Most of our Venetian plastering works can be grouped into one of three price references:

  •  £2000 – 3000 = a typical feature wall or media unit
  •  £3500 – 6000 = a room in venetian plaster or a small bathroom in Microcement
  •  £6000 + = large rooms, bigger bathroom spaces or multiple areas and products
Since all of our work is priced individually we recommend getting in touch to chat about your Venetian plastering needs.

Why Choose Venetian Plastering Over Wallpaper, Tiles or Normal Painting?

Spoilt for choice, you might find yourself in a predicament place, as often our clients do.

What option to choose for your project and why might you choose venetian plastering over the other, equally as suitable options?

We might be slightly biased when we say that we love Venetian plaster, it’s such a versatile coating.

The effects and designs that can be achieved are unrivalled in the world of paint, paper or decorative effects.

Giving you truly one-off designs and styling that perfectly align with your aesthetic.

No more settling or compromise.

Not only that, you don’t have to join lines and can choose how much, or little, the surface is textured. Giving the minimalist vibe all day long.

Venetian Plastering For Feature Walls

Venetian plastering is an excellent choice to create a striking feature wall or pick out an area as a focal point.

Depending on your colour and texture preferences we usually advise a medium textured venetian plaster, this will give some depth and intrigue to the wall.

Enhancing the plaster with a metallic additive, pigment or paint can help it to pop and add an extra layer of creativity to the piece.

By its very nature, a feature wall should add value to the space it is in, having a way to uplift and enhance or add a splash of sophistication or drama.
