No grout in your bathroom

If you’ve been looking online for inspiration for a minimalist, seamless stone experience, you’ve come to the right place. There will be no grout as you will find in tiled bathrooms, when we design and install one of our decorative top coats, giving you a continual end to end surface with no grout or joinlines.

The Microcement products we use will help you to achieve that super clean and natural-looking cloudy texture, structured in a way that appeals to your sense of touch.

You can apply our decorative finishes over just about any surface so let your mind run wild with design possibilities.

Why do people hate grout so much?

We mainly hear from enquiries or clients that they don’t like grout because it’s hard to keep clean and can look dirty quite easily, discolouring or becoming porous and problematic over time.

Also grout gets mouldy, adding more maintenance onto your schedule, which can be labour intensive to scrub and keep looking fresh.

Over time it discolours and can be replaced.

Is grout porous?

When first used, grout is not porous but over time it can become brittle and cracks appear, allowing water to penetrate.

This means that showers or bathroom floors begin to leak.

Does grout leak?

Grout can leak if it hasn’t been installed correctly, in which case the water can get behind tiles or underneath surfaces

Can you repair or replace grout?

Yes you can re-grout a bathroom or floor, but it can be fiddly, messy and if trying to patch in areas it can look less than perfect.

Understandable cost may dictate this is the only viable option or short term solution to keep an area usable.

Seamless wetrooms

To create that end-to-end seamless bathroom space, we recommend one of our microcement products, depending on your preferences we use only two material suppliers for floors or wet areas.

One is lime and marble based, therefore making it more environmentally friendly and sustainable.

The other is a quartz and cementitious based product with epoxy resin binders, which is considered less sustainable or eco-friendly.

Both will perform well and are perfectly suited to the wet room setups.

All the products we use will be sealed and have a good slip rating, which will vary depending on the texture, finish and sealer used. Slip ratings and safety data information can be supplied upon request.

How can the bathroom be truly seamless?

It’s not panels or sheets of material but is in fact applied on site, in situ and by us using a range of trowels. The texture and structure of the product is agreed upon before works commence and therefore you can expect an end result that accurately matches.

Surfaces that can be coated in a wet room include:

  • Shower trays
  • Shower seats
  • Niche shelves
  • Basins
  • Baths
  • Ceilings
  • Walls

Can I have an integrated wet room shower tray?

Yes you can have a fully integrated wet room tray in your space with a seamless surface that flows between floor into tray, providing the bathroom installer has set the substrates at the correct height to match.

We can advise on correct build up and preferred substrates so that you get the finished results you’re looking for.

The alternative to tiling your bathroom

Can this material be used on walls and floors- yes it certainly can.

In fact you can go further than that and form any shape you like before coating it in one of our microcement products, giving you the ultimate seamless stone experience.
