Why Might You Want To Consider Microcement on Your Splashback?
As an alternative to tiles, plastic sheets, glass or marble, microcement on your splashbacks provides another option and range of colours, textures, designs and finishes that you may not get with the other materials.
You’re not restricted to particular dimensions constraints because it is installed on-site and not pre-cut then delivered.
If you want it slightly bigger or smaller, we can accommodate.
Microcement is also an incredibly robust product, so it will stand up to splashes, getting wet and the other day to day rigours that splashback is exposed to.
Lastly, you can have it colour matched to other details in your kitchen and can have the design bring the whole kitchen together, acting as a bridge between worktops and wall units.
What Colours Of Microcement Could I Have?
As standard, you’ll get to choose to form a base range of 50 + colours of microcement.
However, you’re not limited to just those since we can mix you up a bespoke colour on-site, include other additives or products to further enhance or customise your kitchen splashback.
The possibilities therefore multiple into the thousands.
What we find to be most useful when you’re in the early stages of thinking about microcement is to gather some ideas.
We can then discuss how to incorporate these into your space and whether they may be feasible, either way, we’ll give open and honest feedback.
Will Microcement Go Over My Existing Splashback?
Potentially you could install micro cement straight over your existing splashback in your kitchen.
This will largely depend on what material it is and the current condition.
One primary consideration is its cleanliness since splashback can become embedded with grease deposits.
If the splashback is deemed structurally suitable and is of a material that can be coated by microcement, it’ll need a thorough clean and degreasing beforehand.
You can either take care of this, or we can factor it into the project.
Decorative coating, paints and microcement won’t enjoy going over a surface laden with food deposits and grease, so doesn’t be fooled by anyone who tells you otherwise.
Do I Need To Take Special Care Of My Microcement Splashback?
You’ll want to ensure that the microcement splashback looks great and stands the test of time so we recommend caring for your installation as you would for other decorative finishes.
This means keeping it clean and being mindful to not let hot cooking oils splatter all over the surface, which could lead to the sealer or microcement becoming damaged.
As with any of our installations, you’ll be issued an aftercare guide.
